Geocento is primarily a provider of imagery, but since we started the business back in 2011, we have focused on the development of innovative web technologies to help automate and streamline imagery provision as much as possible.

Although many of our users are familiar with our flagship application EarthImages, the technology behind this application has found its way under license into many other businesses, and in many cases we continue to support these 3rd party platforms. The Sentinel Data Access Service (SEDAS) was created and funded by the Satellite Applications Catapult and UK Space Agency to help organisations make use of the vast quantities of satellite data becoming available from public and private satellite operators. It forms a key part of the UK national collaborative ground segment and it makes use of EarthImages technology. Kongsberg Satellite Services, in Norway, operates a network of global ground stations supporting Earth Observation services with the fastest available delivery times. Geocento supported sister company Taitus Software in developing a Multi-Mission Planning and Ordering Tool and associated web client. Geocento and Taitus also developed the new user services interface for e-GEOS, which includes their Cosmo-Skymed radar mission. We have also applied our technology and know-how to the development of more market-specific platforms, such as the EASOS data hub, initially focused on the Malaysian market for civil protection.

In parallel, Geocento have also developed services through their API, which has been used operationally/intensively by a number of organisations, including Maxar. The API includes access to catalogue imagery from multiple suppliers (a meta-catalogue, if you like), and also future acquisition opportunities through the API provided by its sister company, Taitus Software Italia.

Looking forward, the next version of EarthImages, called NEO, will include basemaps and tasking, with image hosting, full resolution visualisation and hosted processing and end-to-end which will also be available via API.
